Thus, from now on, I will here-and-there add a couple of "big words" which will be highlighted in black and linked to its meaning, if you just so happen to not know its meaning.

***

Title of today's blog: Jagged PROfits

Well, my boy G-Sauce holla'd at me at the beginning of summer and said that he and J-Heaven got the hook up for a deal. OK, i'll stop being such a tomfool... Gavin called me a couple weeks ago telling me that Jagged PRO. was going to be making 300 CD's for a wedding. $$CHA-CHING$$

Usually, when Gavin or Jarret say "we," they mean "you, Amos." Nonetheless, I was excited, not to mention elated and exhilarated. But once I got started, I quickly realized that this would be hard-earned money... and that my graphic designing skills are in dire need of being schooled. All that was given to us was a Memorex CD which contained the set of songs that were expected to be on the CD. We were supposed to come up with the designs for the front cover, back cover, as well as the cd label. After about an hour of complaining and procastination, all the designs only actually took about 45 minutes. However, that was the easy part. After finishing the designs, I called up Jarret and Gavin and we arranged a day that they would come to my house, and we'd burn and print all 300 of the CD's. We established that we would meet up two days later at 9 AM and I culminated the phone conversation by saying "Gavin, please don't forget the printer."

Two days later, I wake up at 8:45 to get ready before they arrive. I went to bed at about 3:30 the night before, so to me, that was early. I rushed, because I was falling behind schedule. It was 9 already, and I was still wearing my pajamas, and my hair wasn't gelled yet.

At 11 AM, I realized that they would be late.

I decided to give Gavin a call. "Yo Gavin, where the hell you at?"

"We're almost there, we'll be there in... an hour."

You're not almost there. If you're almost there, you'll be there in 10 minutes. If you'll be there in an hour, that means you haven't even started coming.

"Alright cool, no problem man... take your time."

When they finally arrived, we turned the TV on and put some VCD's (The Notic 2, And1 Mixtapes Vol. 1-6 ... Holla at me if interested, you know?) into the DVD player to have something to watch and to keep us busy while we're burning CD's and printing labels.

First thing's first, we had to set up the printer.

"Yo Gavin, pass me the printer." He hands me the printer, "Is that it? 'Cause we need the cable to hook the printer up to the computer."

"GUY! Oh [flip], I forgot the mother[flipping] cable, [flip]!"

"Could you stop swearing in the Pastor's house?!" Jarret says, "and go home and get the damn cable now."

Gavin got back at about 3 PM and we finally got started with the printing. Even up until then, we hadn't lost our hopes... we still had plans on printing atleast 100 copies or so that day. However, as we were printing the 6th or 7th label, the ink ran out. The ink cartridge cost about $50 and it ran out after printing 6 labels... at that rate, it would cost us $4950 to get the job done.

"[flip], we're [flip]ed."

We decided to bring it to a print shop, and let them do all the printing instead. It would be much faster that way and obviously, cheaper.

The wedding is August 15th and we got our paycheck earlier this week. As Gavin would say, "we [flip]ed up and lost a lot of money." We had a lot of unnecessary expenses which we'll definately remember for the second time around.

The guy gave us $900. Our expenses were $813.41. We're left with $86.59... and we gotta divide that by 3.

(This blog is too long, isn't it..?)

I'm not even gonna brag about the new layout... cuz if anyone knows how to use brushes... then they know how elementary this was..

Anyhow, my blog is back and I'll see if I can update it again soon, peace.

(Hopefully I'll get more visitors now, since people don't have to see my face everytime they hit my page.)

My brother is tutoring me tommorow.

It takes a true man to put his pride aside and let his little brother tutor him... or a stupid one. I don't know how to and I don't really care to learn. I don't wave my hands in the air. I just stand next to a wall or something. I bop my head for about 10 seconds... until I realize that my "head bopping" and the beat are out of sync. Then, I look around to see if anyone is giggling at my loserness.

I was pursuaded to go clubbing tonight. Yes... I'm aware that it's Thursday, and no, I don't usually club. But whatever, it's my friend's birthday so I figured, "What the hell."

As the geek that I am, I naturally know nothing about clubbing, dancing... or the dress codes. As the nerd that I am, I decided to look it up on the internet (the dress code -- that is). I originally planned on wearing a white dress shirt, black dress pants (don't get me wrong, they're size 38)... topped off with my baseball cap and a pair of "Err Force Ones." However, you can never be too sure, so I asked my good friend Google what the dress code would be at Club Extreme and the results were astonishing:

1st Page:
"OTHER FEATURES
Dress Code: No running shoes allowed."

Immediately, my dreams of donning Air Forces with dress pants had to be dismissed 'til furthur notice (Sunday Service, here I come!). But whatever, it's all good, I'll wear my Phat Farm's.

2nd Page:
"The dress code is strict and scandalous. So be prepared to see all types of tight clothing (guys and girls)."

...What the funkkk... Tight clothes on guys? I don't do that. Everybody knows, I don't do that.

So I walk to my closet, reached to the back, closed my eyes and slowly tried on a pair of old dress pants which I threw into my closet years ago with no intention of ever using them again. It felt tight. Uncomfortable tight. Gay tight.

Finally, I couldn't take it... and I decided that I'd rather not go than to wear those "I-Can-See-Your-Butt-Shape" pants. I put on a pair of medium baggy dress pants and if the bouncer has a problem with it, then so be it. I hate clubbing anyways.

OK OK OK... my four months of silence is up! .... I won’t be biased, that’s a great accomplishment and my favourite basketball player hasn’t hit 30 this season. But, I don’t consider Vince Carter anywhere near the MVP candidates. OK, looking back at the title, I don’t think Kobe sucks… However, he’s terribly overrated.

With Shaq out, the Lakers raced into the season with an amazing 3-9 start, silencing the haters that said Kobe couldn’t carry a team on his own. Yes, they were behind the then-woeful Warriors in standings. But could you blame them? They had a tough schedule. They lost to Golden State, Cleveland and Atlanta. To make matters worse, they also had to face the Almighty Washington Wizards, who had “The Game's Greatest” on their team… coming off the bench.

Now, you have to look at the other MVP candidates: KG & T-Mac.

Look at their teams, their surroundings… The most obvious difference is that they don’t have Shaq-Daddy to back them up. You can say that it’s not Kobe’s fault that he’s on Shaq’s team, but I’ve just showed you Kobe, without Shaq. The things that make KG and T-Mac (and Tim Duncan) more worthy MVP candidates is their team. Look at their support.

The second leading scorer on Tracy McGrady’s team is Pat Garrity. Pat Garrity for God’s Sake. The second leading scorer on Tracy’s team averages 11 points a game… Now go click that link and see his ranking among the top 20 players of the league. He’s got 4 categories in the Top 20. He’s in the Top 10 for 3 categories and the Top 15 for 1 category… 3 Point Attempts, Made, Percentage, 48 Mins. So he’s alright at 3 pointers… but that’s it. All this means is that T-Mac gets no support. There is no other offensive threat on the Magic other than Tracy. So teams can freely double or triple team him at any point of the game, cuz no one else can score! Yes, I left out Gooden, but he just arrived to Orlando for a month… and he has nothing in the Top 20s.

How about KG? He plays for the Timberwolves and like T-Mac (and unlike Kobe), has virtually no support on his team. Those of you who are reading this, comfortably dressed in your Kobe jerseys saying, “Er… KG has Terrell Brandon… he’s good.” Terrell Brandon hasn’t played a minute of basketball for the Timb’s this season. Now imagine if Shaq hadn’t played a minute of basketball for the Lakers this season… The second leading scorer on the Timb’s is Wally Szczerbiak. Once again, click the link and look for his rankings. Actually, you don’t even have to, I’ll cite it: “Ranks #9 in the NBA in Free-Throw Percentage(0.871)” Oooohhh, that’s impressive. It beats Shaq’s percentage, so I think I’d rather have Wally on my team… right? Besides, Shaq was injured for a little bit of the season, so perhaps Wally Szczerbiak really was just as effective as Shaq this year. No! Sorry, but Shaq’s played 44 games whereas Szczerbiak’s played only 33… So though KG has had to go through injuries from his top 2 teammates, he’s still managed to pull it through, two seeds ahead of the “Injury Prone” Lakers.

Now look at Kobe’s team. His second leading scorer is Shaq. Go ahead, click it. He’s in the top 20 for 18 categories. They are only 28 catgories. Unless you want to count Turnovers and Turnovers per game, in which Kobe boasts an impressive 4th and 2nd place ranking respectively. You don’t expect Shaq to make steals (which takes away about 4 categories) and you already know about Shaq’s passion of breaking the record for “Most Airballs On Free Throw Attempts.” When opponents face the Lakers, most of the time, Shaq is double teamed. However, when he gets into the paint, he’ll get triple teamed. At that point, he passes it out to Kobe. When Kobe catches the ball, his opponent has two options… call for double team, or face him yourself. If you opt to face him yourself, he’ll cross you up and score. That sounds fancy, but everyone (in the NBA) can do that: T-Mac, AI, Stephon Marbury and even Vince. They just don’t get as many opportunities because they have no support on their team, so the defense isn’t afraid of double teaming them (or triple teaming, in Vince’s case…what?). Now, if the opponent does call for help, then that’s two on Kobe and three on Shaq. He’s got about 3 players with no one defending them, thus you pass it to a wide open Fisher and statistically he’ll drain the 3-ball 4 times out of 10. With so many people open on his team, it’s understandable where his assists come from.

By this time, you either agree with me, or you will never agree with me. I’m not saying Kobe is garbage, but he’s just got it a lot easier than many players. Although, Wally does seem to be outplaying Shaq this year.

MVP: <s>Vince Carter! YEAH!</s> Kevin Garnett.

You can always count on me to update… when I have to study. It’s weird how everything you’ve been “planning to do” for months finally gets done when it’s time to study. Just like those looooong nails that are waiting to be cut.

I clip my nails (toenails too, if there’s more than one exam to study for), organize my desk and sometimes I even clean my room. But this time it’s different. Strangely, my nails are uncut (my toenails are so long they pretty much break by themselves), my desk is falling apart and my room is a mess… yet I still don’t have any studying done! Why is this happening to me? Just as I get into the drift of studying, either someone will get online, or I’ll suddenly have an uncontrollable urge to check my email.

I think the fact that I’m studying computers really doesn’t help my studying ethics. If I have to learn how to make websites, why not learn from the masters, right? Hotmail.com, NBA.com, TSN.com… and then back to Hotmail.com. Next thing I know, all this “research” I’ve been doing has killed 2 hours of my studying time… leading it to 10 PM… which is past 9, so technically it’s not so shameful if I go to bed and start all over tomorrow.

“Hey Amos, remember that time that I asked you if I could put you on Hot Or Not and you said no?”

“Yes,” I say, immediately facing her, fearing the worst. “Please don’t tell me you –“

“Well, I put it up anyways!”

See, when you’re borderline in terms of looks, you really don’t wanna go out and test the limits. It’s easy to convince yourself that that girl didn’t say hi to me simply cause she didn’t see me. She wasn’t ignoring me. But when you put a picture of yourself on the internet, looking to get rated… if you’re ugly, they’ll make sure you know. Sure, the people who are rating you are probably dorks to start off with… but does that really make it better? GREAT, dorks think you’re ugly.

I remember, when I found out about ‘Hot or Not’, I would go to the site for fun, dishing out 1’s and 2’s… However, not once did I even think about putting my own picture up there… cuz I really just don’t want to know. It’s like, you kind of have an idea what the public thinks about you, but you don’t want any confirmation… such as Adrian’s elephant nose.

“You got a 7.2,” looking at the disappointment in my eyes, she tries to make things better, “well, I put your best picture up!"

7.2?! 7.mother-fussing2?! OK, so I know I’m no stud… but… 7.2?! The next day, I try my best to forget about the whole incident. But I can’t let it go. Come on, why not atleast 7.5? So, I decide to put up a picture, and see what happens… to redeem myself.

As the votes are coming in, my heart is beating. I don’t want to be ugly… First vote: 7. With the reality of my 7.2 destiny coming to my mind, I say “freak.”

Second vote: 2. AHHHHH! I’m outta here! When I went to bed that night, the website said, “6.9, you are hotter than 65% of the men on this site. 11 people have voted.” Great. How about we exclude the 70 year old men on this site, and suddenly I’m on the ugly half! Though I was really tempted to just cancel the whole thing, I didn’t.

The first thing I did when I got home today was open the computer. True, I am a dork, but I still wanna know my score! I login to Hot or Not and it says: “8.6.” Wow, so I really am a stud… Looking to higher my score (and naïve confidence) even more, I wait a little longer, while refreshing every 10 mintues. “8.5”… ten minutes later, “8.4.”

1 hour later – now – it sits at 8, dead on, with 71 votes…

Fearing that when I wake up tomorrow morning it will be back down to 7.2, I will press cancel.

I win, Hot or Not, I win. I am an 8, amongst dorks.

To me, the key to leading a good Bible study is not as much studying the Bible as it is studying your group. My technique throughout the years has been to pick out the really talkative person of the group and let that person share his/her point of view on the current passage or situation. That kills a good 15-20 minutes. And then there’s the effective long pause followed by “…What do you think?”

Today’s Bible study went better than expected, since I only knew which passage we were going to study the day before (…excuses, excuses). Even though we did end about 20 minutes before everyone else, I felt that we had a good conversation going and people did learn something. Perhaps not from me, but hey, it’s all good. An added bonus was when I learnt another handy phrase to spark conversation a bit. “How is this applicable, nowadays?” I guess I should’ve picked this one up a long time ago… but it never really hit me until today that when I’m studying the Bible I should ask myself how it’s applicable.

Of course knowing the Bible and reading it everyday would help me lead a good Bible study… However, with my lack of motivation, I think I’m going to have to hold on to these strategies and take them out every four weeks when it’s time to lead again.

Well, I've pretty much completed a whole week of no sleep... and even less time devoted to work. See, if you ever pass by Dawson College, then you may have encountered two black guys harassing you to buy a cd off of them. That isn't me. However, that is Jagged Productions.

J-Heaven
Anonamos
G-Sauce
Gettin'
Everyone's
Dough

What's so immature about that?

I bootleg, but not because I'm Chinese... actually, I don't know why I bootleg. I guess I kind of got dragged into it by the "J" and "G" of Jagged. And now, all I do when I got home is print CD labels, basically. It really blows. I thought I was in the mood of "blogging", but as I look at the time, I suddenly realize that complaining about not having enough sleep would be pointless -- since I can catch up on it now, instead of blogging.. well, PEACE.

YES, I do realize that this entry sucked and was pointless... but I seriously am tired!

Leave me alone.

possibly one of the world's greatest rappers of time..
heard God's calling and climbed down the ladder of crime..
got his bachelor's to be a pastor and left his stature behind..
and finally he's discovered that There's Light After The Lime..

revelations.
